Had an interesting session with a client yesterday about the next hire for the business. It became pretty obvious quite quickly that the new role being considered for would free up the owner from operational matters so that he could be afforded more time to focus on strategic matters and an enhanced level of business development.

“Don’t expect owner’s money if you’re doing employee’s work” was a helpful Brad Sugars quote to drop into the conversation.

In actual fact, as we discussed the situation it became clear that the new role would have 3 particular benefits:

1. allow for an improved level of service for existing clients and most likely better results, quicker. HAPPIER CLIENTS!

2. allow for better follow up (and therefore conversion) of the steady stream of leads coming into the business and thus create more profitable sales. NEW CLIENTS!

3. allow the owner to focus his time and attention onto the things that interested him more and which develop the business’s value. MORE VALUABLE OWNER!

I call this a win:win:win. The owner wins, the clients wins and another job is created so the new recruit wins.
