How does the way you open bottle tops relate to the way you manage your team?

Ok. Bit random but here goes.

My wife Mhairi has recently started a furniture upcycling and craft business. She’s got this cool idea of making a table whereby the top is made from a collection of beer bottle tops and some resin. A montage of different beer bottle tops.

I like her vision.

I just don’t like her ‘management style’. ?

Why?

I had a beer this evening and she criticised me for denting the bottle top!

In a desperate rush to quench my thirst on a lovely sunny day “I lost the plot” and – forgetting about Mhairi’s creation – I excitedly scooped off the top with my bottle opener.

What a bloody idiot (apparently). WHY had I not taken more care to prize it off undented???

“Sorry Mhairi” was my response.

“it would have been nice if you’d thanked me though for all the ones I’ve gathered for you in the jar. The ones which are perfectly eased off with love and attention” was my response.

So what’s my ‘management’ point?

Catch people doing things right more than you catch them doing things wrong.

Any recommendations for divorce laywers? (joke…I love her really)?
