Did you know that the word ‘tip’ apparently stands for “to insure promptness”? So why would you give a tip at the end of receiving the service? Surely it makes sense to give it in advance of receiving the service so that you get the best return on your investment?
I got this whilst listening to my all-time favourite mentor Jim Rohn this morning and it made me think about people and how we coach and manage them.
Do you wait until someone does a good job before you give them praise and feedback?
What if you were to turn it around and praise them in advance of them completing a task or a project. Tell them why you’ve chosen them to do it. Let them know how much you trust them and believe in them. Of course this needs to be authentic and sincere (otherwise it’s manipulation) but what effect might this have on people if you were to ‘tip’ your confidence into them.
What might they manage to produce? What kind of a return might you get on the investment of taking the time to express your faith and believe to someone?
Hope you find this a useful tip.
